Truman Conference highlights Korea-U.S. ties

An enthusiastic crowd of scholars and students turned out to participate in the 9th Annual Harry S Truman Conference. The all-day event, which focused on relationships between South Korea and the U.S., featured presentations of academic papers, discussion panels, dignitaries from South Korea, the U.S. State Department, and MU.
The topics of the conference included agriculture in North Korea, North
Korea’s missile development, the impact of the U.S. credit crisis,
U.S.-Korea economic relations, and press coverage of North Korea. Dr. Handy Williamson welcomed the participants, followed by remarks from UM Chancellor Brady Deaton and Park, Kye-Dong, Secretary General of the Korean National Assembly. Columbia Mayor Darwin Hindman also gave congratulatory remarks.
