The President of Sunchon National University visits Mizzou!
The newly elected president of Sunchon National University in South Korea, Chang, Manchai, recently visited MU.
The purpose of his visit was to renew and regain relationships with Mizzou by enhancing student, faculty, and staff exchange programs.
During his three-day visit, President Chang met with Dean Thomas Payne of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (CAFNR) to discuss study abroad programs. CAFNR is associated with several countries including South Korea. Because SCNU has such a strong agriculture program, the university is very interested in hosting the study abroad program for CAFNR.
Dr. Chang also met the director of the MU International Center, Dr. Jim Scott, to discuss the active exchange programs at the university level, so SCNU students can have more opportunities to study at MU. President Chang has also met Dean James Thompson of the College of Engineering to discuss the student exchange and collaborative faculty research program. In addition, SCNU expressed a desire to send more students to participate in the AAC short-term EPI and PEPI programs.
President Chang gave a presentation about “status and prospects of higher education in Korea.”
Before leaving Columbia, President Chang visited with MU Chancellor Brady Deaton and signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
President Chang said he truly hopes that his visit will strengthen the relationship between MU and SCNU, which will greatly benefit the new development of Sunchon National University.
