Mongolian International University delegation visits MU

news_033_001.jpgFourteen Mongolian International University (MIU) Students and Five faculty members including the university president, Kwon, Oh-Moon visited MU campus from Jan 19 to Jan 22. MIU is the first university in Mongolia offering all courses in English, which draws the students not only from Mongolia but also Russia, China, Korea, and Central Asian Countries including Pakistan and Afghanistan.

MIU provides a vision trip during the winter break and offer selected students an opportunity to visit either the U.S and South Korea for about three weeks. During the visit, students visit industries, cultural attractions such as museum, and universities.

When MIU students visited MU campus, students were allowed to sit in courses related to their major. The MIU students are also able to visit the departments and professors related to their field of study so they could learn about the recent trends and the market situations of their field.

During their visit to MU, they are very welcomed by MU administrators  including Dr. Handy Williamson, the Vice Provost of International Programs, Dr. Jim Scott, the Director of International Center, Dr. Barton Wechsler, the Director of Truman School of Public Affairs, and Mr. Sang Kim, the Director of Asian Affairs Center.

MIU students also presented the traditional Mongolian dance to the MU students and local community.

MIU and MU AAC  began a partnership about three years ago and MU faculty and students have visited Mongolia and MIU for the past two summers for intensive courses.

MIU is  hoping for a strong student and faculty exchange and development for the coming years.
