Inner Mongolia University links with MU

news_006_001.jpgIn December, 2007, Hugjiltu, the Vice President of the University of Inner Mongolia, China visited the University of Missouri.

During his visit, he met with Brady Deaton, the Chancellor of MU;Vice Provost Dr. Handy Williamson; Dr. James Scott, the director of the International Center; Sang Kim, the Director of the Asian Affairs Center and various MU faculty members.


news_006_002.jpgHugjiltu visited the Harry S Truman School and was warmly welcomed by Dr. Barton Wechsler, the Director of the Truman School, as well as faculty and staff and some students.

A relationship was established between the Truman School and the Inner Mongolia University in early of 2006. The Vice President’s visit to MU has improved the linkage between the two universities.

The University of Inner Mongolia is a comprehensive university located in Hohhot, the capital city of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Founded in 1957, the university is the earliest comprehensive university ever established in a minority region of China. The university has now established a complete structure of nine disciplines, two of them, Mongolian Studies and Life Science, enjoy high prestige at home and abroad. The university has more than 20,821 students including undergraduate and postgraduate students. Inner Mongolia University was named a national key comprehensive university by the Ministry of Education of China in 1978, and is now also one of the one hundred universities participating in the “211” project for key construction and development in China.
