Vietnam National University signs with MU

On April 22, the University of Missouri signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City , Vietnam (VNU-HCMC). MU Chancellor Brady Deaton met with Vietnam National University Vice President Professor Le Quang Minh for the official signing.
Vietnam National University is a major university in Vietnam , and the partnership with will help elevate the visibility and stature of MU in Vietnam and the region. VNU-HCMC coordinates one of the country's major scholarship programs, and they are interested in sending scholarship students to MU'S graduate programs.
VNU-HCMC is one of the two national universities in Vietnam --one in Hanoi and the other in Ho Chi Minh City . VNU has about 60,000 students (10 percent are graduate students).
Vice President Dr. Minh is formerly the Rector of Cantho University, which was MU's first partner university/institution in Vietnam . Vice President Dr. Minh is a long-time friend of Prof. Henry Nguyen of MU CAFNR, Director of the National Center for Soybean Biotechnology. The two professors were classmates in Cantho University.
