Be Part of Something Great! Teach in Korea!
The Asian Affairs Center at the University of Missouri is looking for dedicated individuals to partner with our affiliates in South Korea for year-long teaching opportunities.
The provinces of Chungnam (Chungcheonnam-do) and Jeonnam (Jeollanam-do) are enhancing their English curriculum to include more native English speakers as teachers in their primary and secondary public schools.
We are helping them in their efforts by identifying and selecting talented individuals who would like to teach in Korea. This is a great opportunity to hone your existing teaching skills or to experience teaching English to non-native speakers in another country.
Qualifications: You must have a Bachelors degree (all areas of study accepted), be a native speaker of English and have a strong commitment to working with youth in an educational setting.
Contract period: There are several positions needed for both provinces with starting dates of March 2, 2009, April 15, 2009 and September 1, 2009. The departure dates for these positions would be approximately 5-10 days prior to the teaching contract for orientation and settlement in Korea.
Compensation and benefits: Salary is paid in South Korean Won and ranges from approximately 1,900,000 won to 2,200,000 won depending on degree held and experience. Round-trip airfare is paid for a one-year contract. Housing is provided. Certain stipends are given in more rural areas. Paid vacation is approximately 7 days per semester (2 weeks per year).
To apply: Please complete the following forms and return to the contact below. All materials must be received at least 8 weeks prior to the contract period start date.
Process of application and selection: After application materials are received and screened, individuals will be contacted for an interview. If selected, the applicant will be granted invitation papers and asked to obtain their visa from the nearest consulate (typically in Chicago).
Application materials required:
