1) Who we are looking for 2009
▪ Full-time certified English, Science, Math, Social Studies to teach levels from K to G12 in downtown Taipei

2) Qualifications teachers need to have
▪ Bachelor’s Degree (at least),
▪ Government-issued certificates in elementary education, teaching subjects and grade levels mentioned above,
▪ Please note TESOL or TEFOL certificate is not applicable.

3) Experience teachers need to have
▪ Previous teaching experience preferred

4) Job Description
▪ Working hours begin at 8 o’clock in the morning and finish at 4 in the afternoon, Monday to Friday,
▪ 20 – 22 working hours per week,
▪ Teachers will be assigned to different grades (K-12) according to strength,
▪ Upon arrival, teachers will receive orientations and opportunities to demonstrate personal strength in teaching, then, will be assigned different grade levels or interest groups,
▪ Different types of classes / interest groups include drama, visual art, math, logic and problem solving, speech, story telling, mythology and etc.): teachers must prepare own materials
▪ Novel studies: teachers must prepare own materials
▪ Science: Bilingual G1, G2, G3, G7 materials from the US will be provided; High School: teachers must provide own materials,
▪ Social studies: High School: teachers must provide own materials,
▪ Any teacher teaching English in Kindergarten, Grade 1 & 2 will be paired with a Chinese English teacher in each class,
▪ Any teacher teaching English in Bilingual Department G1-3 will be paired with the homeroom teacher in each class,
▪ Teachers will assist in any English-related activities at school or major school events, during weekdays and / or weekends.
▪ Teachers will assist in preparation for any English-related materials, such as listening recordings, Story-Telling Time at English Library, and so on.

5) Class size
▪ Kindergarten, Bilingual classes (Grade 1-3, 9): 30 each,
▪ Regular classes from Grade 1 to 6: 41 to 42 each,
▪ Class from Grade 7 to 9: 40 – 45 each,
▪ Class from Grade 10 to 12: 46 each
▪ Interest group (Grade 5 – 11): 25 each

6) What we offer
▪ an official contract with the school from August 1 (or later starting date)  to June 30 of the following year, with the salary for July for returning teachers
▪ a monthly salary of $69,540 NT for teachers with Bachelor’s Degree (without teacher’s certificate) and teaching experience less than one full year
▪ a monthly salary of $70,890 NT for teachers with Bachelor’s Degree (with teacher’s certificate) and teaching experience less than one full year
▪ a monthly salary of approximately $77,925 NT for teachers with Master’s Degree (with teacher’s certificate) and teaching experience less than one full year
▪ an annual salary increase of 3%,
▪ a round-trip airfare ($50,000 NT as maximum)
▪ a place to live: a 7-bedroom fully-furnished apartment in good community environment, an hour drive away from school, free of charge for as long as they are employed by the school.  Each bedroom is equipped with air-conditioner, a bed, a closet, a desk and a chair.  Teachers living there will be subsidized with transportation fees to and from school, and only need to share the utility, including Internet access, and be responsible for their own living cost.
▪ in case of teachers choosing to live elsewhere, a monthly reimbursement will NOT be provided,
▪ free of charge assistance in applying for all government documents such as working permit and Alien Residence Card (ARC),
▪ Labor and National Health Insurance coverage at approximately $1,100 - $1,200 NT per month, automatically deducted from salary
▪ One – two week of vacation in Chinese New Year

7) Taxation by the government
▪ All foreign teachers working in Taiwan will need to pay government tax of 20% for the first year, 10% the following years.
▪ Foreign teachers’ income tax in the first year will be absorbed by the school.
