Overview on Short-Term Academic Exchange Program
1. Goal
To enhance the sister-school relationship between Shih Hsin University and its sister institutions, and to promote international academic exchange, the goal of this program
is to offer scholarship for selective students who are motivated to study Chinese
language and culture in an Asian university environment and to help bring American language and culture experiences to Taiwan.
2. Benefits
-The exchange students will be provided 14,100 NTD (after taxes deducted) per month.
-The exchange students will be able to take fundamental Chinese Language courses and some other courses offered in English by various academic departments at the SHU campus, and all the tuition and fees will be waived.
-The exchange students will be offered a standard dormitory room, free of charge.
3. Period of Study
Spring Semester starts in late February and ends in late June 2012;
Fall Semester starts in mid-September 2012 and ends in mid-January 2013.
4. Qualification
Full-time undergraduate and graduate students, except for freshmen, with excellent English speaking and writing proficiency and intercultural adaptability with a recommendation letter from home university's international office are qualified for the selection. SHU reserves all rights to approve the grant of the scholarship.
6. Obligation
The exchange students are expected to work in the English Corner (an area for 2 OPA, SHU promoting English speaking on the SHU campus), for conducting informal interactions with SHU students, 20 hours may be spreading out five days of a week.
7. SHU Application Deadline
The application documents (including the letter of recommendation, autobiography and vitae) for the Spring Semester applicants should be mailed to the SHU by
December 31, 2011.
The application documents for the Fall Semester applicants should be mailed to the SHU by May 15, 2012.
*The application deadline at student's home institute may be earlier.
